Matthew Lissak, M.D. is a psychiatrist on the Upper East Side
of New York City who specializes in treating people with eating
disorders.

I provide comprehensive care for people
recovering from all types of eating disorders: anorexia nervosa,
bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and obesity. The treatment
can include individual psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and
group psychotherapy for both women and |
men. Because eating disorders can affect many aspects
of physical health, I also work closely with both primary care
doctors and nutritionists.
Eating disorders have become epidemic in our society, yet it can be very
difficult to find the right treatment to get well. Many psychiatrists do
not have the specific training to work with people suffering from anorexia
or bulimia, and even those with this specialty can be difficult to locate.
One important service I provide is giving direction to find and to start
the right type of treatment quickly. At these times, an initial consultation
may be right to help someone begin a path towards recovery. |
|
| I believe that combined treatment from one provider is
often the best form of treatment. For more about my treatment
philosophy, please read my letter published in the American
Journal of Psychiatry. |
